Episode 30: Puerto Rico - Despues de Maria

Spanglish Intro. Spanish conversation. Hurricane Maria tore through Puerto Rico on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017. It entered through the east of the Island as an almost category 5 storm and caused widespread devastation. Needless to say, it changed the lives of many people and to this day, 8 weeks after the passing of the storm, the situation in Puerto Rico is still critical. Less than half the island has power, there are still many without running water, traffic congestion has become the order of the day, thousands of people lost their homes, communications were affected, thousands have fled the island, and the future of Puerto Rico is uncertain. I believe there are silver linings within this catastrophic situation, of course, but in this episode we will stick to discussing the current situation in Puerto Rico. I had the opportunity to have a brief conversation with Vicente Toledo, a friend, writer and journalist, who shared some details about the current daily life in San Juan and Puerto Rico.
