Episode 48: Hablando con la Irrepetible Laura Om

Episode 48: Hablando con la Irrepetible Laura Om

Monica and Laura Om

Intro/Outro are in English. Conversation with Laura in Spanish.

I'm curently in Florida and I confess it took me awhile to put together this episode not only because of the traveling but because of one of the issues we talked about, which I address in the outro.. so stay tuned til after the conversation... no hay ñapita musical pero mas bien una verbal.

On this ocassion I had the opportunity to meet with an artist who's found her vocation as a hairstylist and color expert to inspire other women to feel empowered. Laura Om is the owner of Om Studio and B de Burro, she has an active instagram page containing photos of her many travels as well as many samples of her work specializing in curly hair.

I loved how this conversational interview flowed, I knew Laura somewhat from some years ago as we have some folks in common, but I know her mostly from her colorful wardrobes, the various ways in which she wears her hair, and the successful businesses  she's had over the years, We talked about how she began in her various ventures, her California experience, about #marantapower, and more.

Episode 41: Conociendo a Tio Louie de Prime Latino Media

Monica y Tio Louie in the West Village, NYC.

English and some spanglish.

My conversation with Louis Perego Moreno, focused on Prime Latino Media, a network of Latino artists, mediamakers, actors and musicians in the East Coast and beyond.

We talked about his background in the Bronx, his career as a documentary filmmaker, and naturally, about the role of the diaspora in the recovery of Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The music in the background and the ñapita musical are by Richard Martinez.
